EMT Students Practice Essential Lifesaving Skills
EMT students at Gene Burton College & Career Academy had the unique opportunity to use the Rockwall ISD aquatic center for hands-on water rescue training. This session allowed them to practice essential lifesaving skills, including patient extrication, spinal immobilization in water, and teamwork in aquatic emergencies. By incorporating real-world scenarios, our students gain practical experience that prepares them for future emergency situations.
GBCCA DECA Attends State Career Development Conference; Four State Finalists And One Advancing To Internationals!
Twenty-one competitors from the GBCCA DECA chapter joined 6,600 business, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship students at the State career development conference. Congratulations to the following students who were awarded for their individual ability and achievement at the State level:

The Law & Order Students Competed In Houston
On February the 22nd, the Law & Order students traveled to Houston Texas to compete in the TXPSTA (Texas Public Service Teacher Association) State Competition. All of the students worked really hard to get to this level. It was one of the most competitive years we have ever seen, with almost five hundred competitors. However, several of our students were able to come out on top.

Both Rockwall ISD teams performed amazingly!
Rockwall High’s team took the 1st place team win along with individual members winning 1st, 5th and 6th. Rockwall Heath members took 2nd and 3rd place.

FCCLA 2024-2025 Regionals Fashion Design Competition
The 2024-2025 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Fashion Design competition team, which consisted of 13 team members, traveled to Waco, Texas on February 6th-8th, to attend the FCCLA Regionals Fashion Design competition. All 13 members competed in four categories of Fashion Design and Fashion Construction. We are extremely proud of this team, as 11 out of 13 are advancing to the 2024-2025 FCCLA State Fashion Design competition on April 10th-13th which will be held at the Hilton Anatole In Dallas, Tx.
GBCCA Amateur Radio CTSO Is Competing For The First Time
The newly formed GBCCA Amateur Radio CTSO is competing for the first time in ARRL School Club Roundup February 12 & 13. Students have been communicating with other radio operators across the United States and Canada. Our club collects points during the competition and is ranked against other school radio teams.
